Let's Power Noosa with 100% Renewable Energy
And Reduce Electricity Bills by 20-40%
We believe that living in harmony with nature is paramount.
We believe in the power of coming together as a community.
We believe in taking action now!
The Solution
Inspired by the vision of Zero Emissions Noosa and Tourism Noosa, we have worked on finding a way to switch to 100% renewable energy while lowering electricity bills.
A lot of people told us that it can only be done if our government makes changes. But with a prime minister that swears on “Fair Dinkum Power” being coal, we don’t want to wait for any politicians.
And actually, it is not necessary.
The solutions exist today and we are sharing exactly how the Noosa region (and others) can achieve it. The most important first step:
Negotiate a Bulk Purchase of Renewable Energy for Our Community.
Instead of all of us buying electricity individually at whatever rates the power companies dictate, we are negotiating a bulk-deal for all the power we need in the Noosa region (including Peregian Springs, Eumundi, Doonan, Verrierdale).
This should save individual household and businesses about 20% off their electricity bills.
It is a good starting point, and there is more that we can and will do.
Noosa Power will negotiate the bulk-purchase on the community’s behalf. It is a for-purpose company, where no shareholder receives any profits. Instead Noosa Power exists to serve our community by coordinating simple actions that lead to a clean energy future while reducing the costs for all participants.
Negotiations have already started and are at a point where we need to prove actual community interest.
We require at least 1,000 residents/businesses to participate initially. And we would like to do much better than that. There are about 25,000 electricity accounts in the Noosa region…
So if you are a Noosa region resident or business owner and believe in our vision, sign the Action Declaration. Or head straight to the Energex Authority form, so we can request your electricity consumption details to negotiate the bulk purchase (you will need a recent electricity bill to fill that out.)
